I'm learning that in order to accomplish the goals I've set for myself, I have to be fearless about pursuing them even at risk of being laughed at. About 12 weeks ago, I registered for the Chicago Half Marathon in an attempt to support my friend Lakisa Ballard, founder of the Imani Children's Literacy Foundation as she raised money for the foundation. Prior to this race, the longest distance I remember myself ever running was 1,500m and this was almost 10 years ago when I was on the track team at my high school in Nigeria. In any case, on race week, we were still almost $500 away from the fundraising target goal of $1,000 for Imani and on race day, the fundraising page was still $150 short of the target amount. But right at the last minute, some major donations came pouring in and we exceeded the goal and raised a total of $1,210 for Imani! I'm learning that the way to accomplish a goal is to be fearless about pursuing it even at risk of being laughed at. I'm learning that when I put my goals out there, pray about them and then start to pursue them somehow they keep getting accomplished! Thank you to everyone who gave to Imani.
